World Bank allocates USD200m for Ukrainian agriculture

Bulgaria’s Commission for Personal Data Protection said it has imposed a BGN1m (EUR500k) fine on local DSK Bank, part of Hungarian banking group OTP, over unlawfully disclosed personal data of its customers.

The personal data of 33,492 customers of DSK Bank from 23,270 loan files, also containing personal data of an unlimited number of related persons, was left without adequate protection by the bank, the commission said in a statement.

Estonia

New figures from Statistics Estonia shown that average monthly wages in the country jumped to EUR1419 in Q2’19, a 5.9 per cent increase on Q1’19 and a 7.4 per cent increase y/y. The average hourly gross wage was EUR8.22, nine per cent more y/y.

Average monthly labor costs per employee reached EUR1900, and the hourly labor cost EUR12.50, a 6.8 per cent increase y/y.

Ukraine

The World Bank will provide Ukraine with a loan of USD200m aimed at accelerating private investment in Ukrainian agriculture. According to the Ukrainian finance ministry, the agreement will be used for the development of the country’s agricultural sector, including the creation of a public agricultural register, satellite mapping of Ukrainian land and the introduction of a new food safety system.

The loan comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised to reopen Ukraine’s land market. The purchase and sale of Ukrainian farmland has been prohibited since 2001.
