Czech PM Sobotka wants to involve Japanese firms in industry’s modernization

Japanese companies should get involved in Czech industry’s modernization, robotization and digitization, not invest only in traditional areas, such as the car industry, engineering and electronics, PM Bohuslav Sobotka has said while opening the Czech-Japanese economic forum in Tokyo on Wednesday. Still, Sobotka highly appreciated Japan’s investments in the Czech Republic which have reached USD 3.7bn and has created some 47,000 new jobs. A total of 250 Japanese companies are currently operating in the Czech Republic. According to Sobotka, Brexit creates opportunity for the country to become more important in terms of gateway for Japanese investments within the EU as a lot of Japanese investment headed to Britain in the past. The premier noted that in the future he would like to strengthen the high rate of new Japanese investment value-added and believes that new Japanese investments could be connected with the development of electro mobility and Industry 4.0.
