Latvian parliament passes budget bill 2019

Parliament passed the budget bill for this year in its final reading with 59 votes in favor and 34 against, the BNS reported. PM Karins argued the budget bill is a technical one, largely prepared by the previous government and informed that as of Thursday, April 4, the cabinet will start work on the budget for next year.

To remind, the bill envisages revenue at EUR9.2bn, spending at EUR9.4bn and a general government budget deficit at 0.5% of GDP. Earlier in March, the European Commission approved the bill and announced it is in accordance with the Stability and Growth Pact.
