Romanian authority makes available EUR70m for projects in farming products processing

A management authority in agriculture launched call for EU-backed projects in farming products processing. Total available funds reach EUR70m for which the potential beneficiaries of the non-reimbursable financing can file projects starting with Aug 1 until the end of October. The financing is available through the National Rural Development Operational Program covering the 2014-2020 period (PNDR 2020) in the only financing scheme that addresses processing of farming products for obtaining non-farming goods with added value.

As recalled, the Romanian government targets to absorb EUR5.2bn in EU funds this year, of the total EUR33bn allotted to Romania for the 2014-2020 period. The allotments for Romania include EUR23bn structural and cohesion funds and EUR10bn agricultural funds (EUR8bn in PNDR). We note that the absorption rate from the 2014-2020 budgetary allocation is almost null, as the government only recently validated some of the management authorities.
