The failed gas pipeline project South Stream will be replaced with a Serbian Stream project, PM Ana Brnabic announced, local media reported. Serbian Stream will represent a gas supply route from Bulgaria to Serbia, she said. This will provide Serbia with an alternative source of energy, she explained. Preparatory works on the construction of the pipeline section from Nis to Dimitrovgrad on the border with Bulgaria have already started and actual construction will be launched soon. The realization of the project, however, depends on the EU granting EUR40m of financing to Serbia for the construction, Brnabic noted.
