TreasMin: Poland will seek to repair coal mining sector, cut costs, but without hurting miners

Poland will seek to transform its ailing coal mining sector in such a way as to cut costs, but without hurting sector’s employees, Treasury Minister Dawid Jackiewicz told weekly Wprost.

“[A] few options are being mulled for taking over coal mining,” Jackiewicz said, “with a repair plan that will not hurt employees, but we will eliminate excessive costs.”

The coal mining restructuring will be conducted by the currently formed Energy Ministry, Jackiewicz also said.
